Ways to Replenish Your Energy When You Are Overwhelmed

This post is about "Ways to Replenish Your Energy", which came straight from my "Cream of the Crop" Recovery Tapping Binder.

See the original here:

WAYS TO REPLENISH YOUR ENERGY!

I knew there were times when we're just exhausted and fatigued and over-whelmed and we can't do another thing, no matter what recovery we're "suppose to be doing".

That's the time to peruse over this list and see what grabs you.

Sometimes you need to put your goals and "To Do" lists aside and just NURTURE SELF....

Do Nothing but PLEASURE YOURSELF, and don't be shy or ashamed of it.

You have my "permission" but really you learn to give yourself permission.

You learn to feel entitled to a little time-out, self-nurturing, "Me Time"...., So that you can be your BEST SELF and not the depleted, over-whelmed fatigues self you're forcing yourself through the motions with.  Your Real Self, your Natural State, is one in which action comes natural and feels fulfilling.

Remember, the voice or resistance inside that doesn't want you to do it, is just a part of you trying to get your attention because it has a message for you.... so embrace it..... Tap on it, see what comes up.

If not, you will burn out and continue getting worse and go downhill.  Maybe days, weeks, months or years later it catches up to you my friend.

I know in your 30's your in a hurry to get all your ducks and a row and in your 40's you're trying to get everything done and feel more urgency as you approach 50's to catch up with whatever you neglected or just couldn't get to years earlier....

....But, these things all require down time and restorative time along the way.

The paradox is, the more slowed down you get and mindfully do rest and relaxation, the more you actually get done and done well when you get back on your work horse.

Take it from me.  I had to make myself time. I had to schedule it in. I have to have "me time" and down time and quiet time.  I'm an introvert, I'm a counselor, I have to attend to ME.

And so do you.

Your homework assignment:  Once per week look over this list and pick one to indulge in for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to a whole day.  Just watch what happens during the rest of your week for having done so.

You are stimulating your endorphins and dopamine (feelings of relaxation and well-being) and you are giving yourself a break which is just what the doctor ordered when you're in over-whelm.

You  know how the saying goes.... If you're too busy to do 1 thing for 20 minutes, then you need to do 2 things for 40 minutes.  In other words, when you resist and don't think you can fit it in, or other inner messages that say I don't have time, I don't feel like it, etc.  THAT is the exact time that you double down your efforts and rebel. Do it anyway, just for the principle of it.

Later, afterwards, reflect on how you feel having done so, and you will find your life lessson and another gem to add to your Recovery Shrine if you will.  Collect these little diamonds along the way for those are ever-lasting where-as work is fleeting and you forget what you did each day years later.

You remember the diamonds and you draw on their strength to do it again because you see the real value and benefit they give you.

It's all about YOU.  Your decisions and your actions and your choices.

Choose wisely, with love for self.

The Gauge Protocol Or How To Increase Your Energy, Vitality, Metabolism and MORE With EFT!

Here's a neat twist on the Tapping method.  Instead of 'Tapping' on problems, you can Tap on a measurement or gauge that you want to increase.

Say I ask you to rate your overall Energy Level from 1 -10. What number are you at right now?  How high or low is your Energy?

Good, now write that number down.

Then go through the Metabolism Protocol and TAP your Energy Level UP!

When done Tapping a round or two, re-take your gauge and see what the number feels like now. Hopefully the number went up.  Keep at it and your Energy-Body-Mind will follow along.

But, I thought, why stop there?  Why not TAP to INCREASE anything that you can measure or gauge.  Why not TAP to increase balance, strength, or even memory or mental clarity???

See full list of ideas I came up with here:

The Gauge Protocol

Now for the actual TAPPING Protocol on what to say while Tapping, I borrowed from the Metabolism Protocol you can see and download from here:

Metabolism Protocol

I figure why re-write the whole thing when I've had it in my Recovery Binder "Cream of the Crop" for years.  I just scanned the thing in its entirety so you can learn it too.  At the time I was working on my resistance to doing anything, like working out, because at the time I had mild depression and didn't know it.  I just knew I had this huge resistance to doing what I wanted, as if I had to force myself and swim through honey just to get it done - and it felt like drudgery!

When I found the Metabolism Protocol, I thought that was a great way to increase my energy and my willingness to work out.  As well as identify all the thoughts in my head that were discouraging me, so I could create Tapping Choices Statements and work on those.

It worked.  I was able to get up off my butt and do some power walking and other exercise so I could burn off the food I was eating and counter-act the sedentary lifestyle I was living which mainly consisted of sitting at my lap top and laying on the couch watching TV.

Try it out.  It's a fresh take on Tapping and you might just increase your energy in a real way that helps you this week.

Bike Riding for Wellness | Recovery Tapping Story | And A Healing Dream..

I grew up south of Chicago where, beyond the city, there are dozens of lakes and wood trails to explore.

Then I lived in Southern California where there were tons of beaches, but not many wooded areas that I grew to really miss over the years.

Now, it's such a blessing to live in Northern California where there are tons of bike paths along the rivers, and through the woods again!  It's downright therapeutic. ....It relaxes the mind, ....it exercises the body..., and nature is soothing,... , people are peaceful...  It's healthy and restorative...... Helps your mind process things... or drift off into dreams... organizing thoughts of what's important to you....

I often say my prayers as I start off riding so that I don't even realize I'm

about half a mile down already and it doesn't felt like I did any 'work'.  Then, like a biking meditation, ... I may let my mind wander over thought after thought without resistance or staying on them,....I let thoughts and images go by like a parade...

Then I focus on what I see which are trees, squirrels, birds, ducks, an occasional turtle...walkers, dogs, other smiling bikers.

And my mind relaxes even more.

I focus on my body. I may do a modified version of qi gong while riding, (which are mostly arm stretches).  I adjust my posture... I practice smiling... I'm in my element.., and I start to daydream about my dreams...., my dream of creating a Recovery Tapping center..., teaching anyone whose interested how to heal themselves by learning Emotional Freedom Techniques, and other Energy Healing techniques.

The other night I had a dream...  I dreampt I went over to a girlfriend's house to do an energy healing on her boyfriend who just got diagnosed with cancer. In the dream I suddenly 'woke up' like, and became aware of where I was, and backed out, feeling embarrassed that I just walked in without permission or being invited.

But still it was a cool dream and I shared it later with that girlfriend, who immediately texted her boyfriend and he invited me over!

I showed up with my Energy Medicine Bag and began teaching him about Energy Psychology and Tapping and walked him through several EFT/Tapping Rounds so he could learn it by doing it.

I wanted to teach him how to use these life-altering Emotional Freedom Techniques, not just "do a healing on him".  I like teaching people to heal themselves.

He kept telling me he could feel "a release" as we did each round, and his SUDs numbers were going down on all 3 issues that we Tapped on.

I think I saw a small tear in the corner of his eye.

Earlier I searched for a Tapping script for being told you have Cancer and found one. (EFT Script for Cancer Dx), and he later said it was exactly what he was feeling; he was blaming himself for his cancer and it was a huge relief to be able to work on clearing that.

You have to love and accept yourself to recovery, you can't beat yourself up. You need self-compassion and you need self-empowerment and you need to develop your own Wellness plan.

That is not easy to do when you are riddled with self-blame and guilt and grief and fear.

But once you clear these issues/feelings, one by one, with Tapping (EFT)* , your brain can now think clearer and get back to its natural state of (love, peace, power, choice, courage, etc.) whatever it is for you.  For each person its different because as the negative stuff lifts and clears, the mind naturally starts sorting your thoughts out.

At the same time, since EFT arrested the "Flight or Fight" response, that naturally kicks in the "Calming Response" in the nervous system, which causes the body to calm down, and a general sense of well-being rushes in, as endorphins are released in the brain.

My homework assignment to him, and to anyone willing, is to Tap every day on 1-3 issues.  And do Donna Eden's "5 Minute Daily Energy Routine".  Imagine how many issues you can clear in the next 90 days!  It's like Gary Craig, creator of EFT said, "If issues were trees, it's like you chop down one tree at a time until the whole forest collapses".

I'll go back for a follow-up in 2 weeks and then give him another Energy Healing which doesn't involve tapping which is very powerful.  I call it my NLP Ninja Energy Matrix technique that is a combination of several transformative, healing techniques, including somatic mindfulness, that I've been practicing for many years with awe-inspiring effects.

It tends to put my husband down on the couch for a good nap every time I use it on him and he's much calmer and happier for days afterward...., Ladies, do you hear me?  It works.  You can use it on yourself so you don't react when they push your buttons too.  Its a very handy tool to have in your healing tool box.

But the foundation is EFT Tapping. Why? Because it involves physically tapping on yourself which is an instant Body-Mind action where all healing begins. IMHO/IMHE

Then you "get it" and can easily transition to the non-tapping energy techniques.

Well, its time for my morning bike ride before it gets too hot.  It's suppose to get past 100 degrees today.

Happy Tapping!

=)

 JP

Welcome to Recovery Tapping - Tap Out of Fear and Into Choices -

Yeah, so I got my weekly Depression Wellness Recovery Art Class started up and going.

I've had a few people show up, a few regulars and one drop-in.

Plus I've been spreading the word to people every day so I expect a steady growth in members.

Anywhoo.  it worked out well to start with the Symptoms of Depression first, and then put them into 1 of 3 categories (body, mind, emotion), which serves to justify the use of daily GRAPES.

Then we jump into GRAPES with the handouts I already described last blog post, and then go into negative thinking and reframing negative, critical, depressed thinking into wellness affirmations.

Along with that we put in coloring or doodle pages in-between and just also decided to add a doodle border to each worksheet moving forward.

I got the bones of it, but the members of the class also help create this thing by adding in their two cents as we go and their feedback on what I've put together as well.

Everyone leave happy. They smile more. They are glad they came. They got their social support goal met for the week and they like it.

This gives me great personal pleasure and satisfaction.

Now.., how do I bring my 3 recovery binders full of energy psychology and recovery with positive psychology "stuff" into the picture?

Answer: I don't know, just one step at a time.

It's ok if one step at a time feels like a slow crawl.

Like I'm behind and gotta catch up and get all this stuff out there...

But I have to be in the moment today and go with the crawl.

Embrace the crawl.

I've learned to just embrace all the shit that happens, because shit it suppose to happen.

Embrace it, feel it, mindfulness it, and clear it up in time too.

And that's what the next part of the class is all about:  how to deal with the shit that happens.

That's where EFT Tapping come in. We will learn EFT in 5 Easy Steps and start applying that to our negative thinking and feeling and get some movement there.

And also, this is where MINDFULNESS come in too. We will practice it together in several ways, not just the healing way.  We will mindfully color and doodle without realizing it half the time. We will learn SOMATIC MINDFULNESS so we will get used to going within and feeling somatic markers and beyond for those interested, into communicating with them.

Then there is the whole Energy Moves thing, from Donna Eden and some basic Qi Gong moves to teach the class so they can get their ENERGY EXERCISE in their day. To get their Energy up and activated the lazy man's way - by sitting there in your chair and doing Energy Tapping and Energy Moves and FEEL BETTER

Of course from there we will move into physical exercise brainstorming of what each one likes to do ad aim for 15-30 minutes a day. Daily movement. Daily eating healthy as you can. Daily recvery plan actions.

That's the point. Create a daily recovery plan that is easy and fun to do and easily do-able. That's the point, because in depression everything is HARD.

Which reminds me, we're going to also talk about the Upward Spiral, a book I found that explains the theory and neural-science perfectly.

GRAPES is a planned path for stopping the downward spiral of depression and starting to slowly increase the positive things in life (rather than try to just 'fix' the problems and negatives).

GRAPES is your way up the spiral out of depression for relief and recovery.

So that's it. It's going and growing and where we want to go each week.

NEW:  I've decided to upload the hand-outs to this blog so everyone else can learn it too.

I have various handouts for mental health recovery.
I have all the handouts in draft for this new depression wellness class I'm talking about above.

I plan to put the class handouts into a booklet for everyone who shows up for the class.

I'll scan those in to my computer as pdfs that I hope I can easily load onto this blog. I may have to email them to myself first or put them in G-Docs first, IDK, but I'll get to that bridge.

Until next week... Take Good Care and eat your Daily GRAPES.

Thanks for reading.

Love & Hugs
Jeanette

Psy-Qi-Soma Spiritual Empowerment Protocol

Recovery Tapping - Heal Your Past - Create Your Future!

The Psy-Qi-Soma Spiritual Empowerment Protocol

This Energy Psychology Protocol is one I developed that I call "Psy-Qi-Soma Energy Empowerment Healing" (PSEEH). Psy for the mind, Qi for energy and Soma for the body. I thought I'd have fun with it and pronouce PSEEH as "see" since the 'p' and the 'h' are typically silent in many English words.

PSEEH was designed to work with the emotional meaning behind the energy points. For example in acupuncture each meridian has an emotional correspondance related to it, both positive and negative. The Lung Meridian is associated with grief and joy. Same with the chakra system of energy; the third eye point is associated with seeing on an inner or higher level or being blind to it.

For the PSEEH Protocol Series I took the postive emotional component and designed a keyword or phrase for each point. Then I matched up an empowering topic such as motivation, self-esteem or weight loss and designed the statement to fit the topic with the emotional keywords in mind, thus giving it an empowering effect.

So for example the Heart Chakra is about Love. In the Motivation Empowerment Protocol the Heart point statement is: I love to be motivated. For the Self-Esteem Empowerment Protocol the Heart statement is: I love to value myself. For weight loss empowerment: I love my body.

Below is my Psy-Qi-Soma Spiritual Empowerment Protocol. The word 'spiritual' can mean many things to many people. I suspect that it means a completely different thing to each and every one of us for we are all unique individuals. That is why I designed the statements with a mixture of spiritual words for you to choose from.

Feel free to substitute any spirtual name with what you are comfortable with. (It does not matter if you say "God", "Higher Power", "Universal Love", "Allah", "Soul", "Spirit", "Angels" etc.) The intention and meaning of spiritual acknowlegement and connection between you, your energy and your spirituality are the same.

Along the left hand side are the meridian and charkra points to Tap on or simply hold or touch, while saying the statements with Spiritual Empowerment in mind. So, without further ado here is...

What is Codependency?

What is Codependency?

A dysfunctional relationship with yourself.

An absence of self-defense.

A result of not living your passions.

Focusing on others and their happiness and hoping that they will focus on you and your happiness.

Self-neglect.

An addiction to focusing on others which in turn distracts you from yourself.

Making others responsible for your peace of mind which depends on if they are drinking or using or not, or for that matter, cheating on you or not, blowing money without your knowledge or not. And all the other things that users, losers and abusers do to codependents.

Being hyper-sensative to others inconsiderate and selfish behavior.

Not taking care of yourself.

Ask a codependent person how they are doing and they usually answer with, "Well, he did such and such", or "She's driving me crazy, you won't believe what she did this time." In other words they don't say "I" as in "I'm scared or feeling blue" or "I'm working my recovery program and am dealing with painful emotions, but all in all things are going ok."

Ask a codpendent person, "Why do you stay with him/her"? And they are likely to answer, "Well, he really needs me". "I don't think he can make it without me". "He has no where else to go". "She dependes on me and deep down really loves me".

Again, not one thing about themselves or how they feel or what they really want.

At times you have to ask a codependent person two or three times, "What do you want?" to get to the real answer. But once they stop and think it over they almost always know the right answer for themselves, it's like they are hiding it, or feel they have to fix the other person first.

Questions that codependents can practice asking themselves on a daily basis. "How do I feel?" "What do I need?" "What do I want?" "What would make me happy?" "Is this good for me?"

Statements that codependents can practice telling themselves on a daily basis. "I'm ok." "I'm enough." "I'm good enough." "I love and accept myself exactly the way I am."

At one time or another, everyone exhibits some codependent behaviors – behaviors that you do because you think you are responsible for someone else out of guilt, obligation or fear, or you feel someone else is to blame or responsible for you, or a certain feeling or a situation in your life.

No one exhibits all of them all the time, however some people are more codependent with certain people but not all people, or exhibit more or less of these behaviors over time.

Codependency is a survival plan as a result of childhood abuse or neglect. It is a set of rules or decisions that children develope to make life more bearable and livable. Or to emotionally survive the chaos and confusion and to accept the denial that there was nothing wrong. Children learn unhealthy behaviors in order to deal with their caretaker's drama and while trying to survive. They often grow up feeling responsible to make others happy and try desperately to get the love they need.

Neglect is the most harmful thing to happen to a child. Infants can die without affection even if they are fed and otherwise taken care of.

Although they may have helped you survive childhood, these behaviors and survival strategies do not work in adulthood to get adult needs met. Adults have more control of the environment and their actions. These old, outdated actions and beliefs need to be 'upgraded' or completely changed. Otherwise the adult is living their life based on a 5 or an 8 year-old's decisions.

Creating pain, breakdown and eventaually hitting bottom and other addictions along the way, is what it usually takes for a codpenednet person to try another way and seek some sort of help.

How do we get here? We realize it in a rude awakening. A wake up call that being codependent just doesn't work anymore. Your "pain killers" aren't working anymore, ie. helping others, overeating, avoiding life, neglecting self, shutting down, etc.

When the choices seem to run out, one may be open to try recovery and tapping to change and grow as a person and learning to change your relationships and your lifestyle in the process.

It's an exciting time of renewal and renewed hope and transformation where your life can begin again.

Tapping significantly decreases the emotional impact of the hard work of dealing with your emotional issues. It takes the charge out and can save you years of therapy.

Recovery growth and change works. Because recovery focuses on the solution to the problem (you, your choices and behaviors) and takes the focus off the other person and changes it into concern and care for yourself - what you have needed all along.

Growth is a natural maturing process that you would do anyway if it were not for the blocks in your way and the ghosts in your mental closet holding you back.

Growing up involves leaving home, emotionally and physically, harnessing the lessons you have learned from your mistakes and changing your actions to show concern for yourself. Reflecting on these new lessons and changing behaviors from codependency to wellness can be the most important gift you can give to yourself.

Tapping in recovery makes this alot easier, faster and longer lasting.

Increasing wellness over time with daily recovery decreases the pain when you use Tapping to help soothe the feelings that come up in recovery. Here are some traits, symptoms or characteristics of depression and codependent feelings that are behind many codependent behaviors. They are a collection of causes, thoughts, feelings and actions all having to do with codependency. My suggestion to you is to choose those that you can relate to and do a full Tapping Round on each one and then do some Short-Cut Rounds of Tapping on anything else that comes to mind while you are clearning these codependency energies that have been stuck for a long time.

Happy Tapping! Never heard of EFT/Tapping? See my report "How to Tap" with Diagrams and Directions.

EVEN THOUGH, (fill in the symptoms that you relate to below), I LOVE AND ACCEPT MYSELF.

DON'T FORGET TO RATE HOW DISTRESSFUL EACH STATEMENT IS BEFORE AND AFTER TAPPING.

I never seem to enjoy things as much as I used to
I feel I’m getting nowhere no matter what I do
I don’t have strong interest in things I’m doing
My life seems to be aimless
I find it difficult to believe in anything
What I do is pretty useless
I don’t know what to do with myself
I feel all alone in the world
I don’t feel very productive
I prefer to be by myself and isolate
I find it hard to make decisions without someone’s approval
I do my best work when I feel I’ll be appreciated
I’d rather follow than lead
Pleasing others is very important to me
Disapproval by someone close to me is painful for me
The idea of losing a relationship terrifies me
I’m quick to agree with other’s opinions
I’d be lost if I didn’t have someone special
It’s hard for me to ask someone for a favor
I’m easily discouraged when I don’t get what I need from others
I’m never happier than when others tell me I did a good job
It’s hard to make up my mind until I know what other people think
In social situations I’m very self conscious
I have trouble making decisions
I tend to expect too much from myself
I'm very hard on myself
I feel I never get all that I need from other people
I’m often afraid I won’t do the right thing and invite disapproval
What people think of me really affects me
I desperately need love and support
I’d be helpless if I were deserted
I fear I’ll lose the love and support of others if I make a mistake

DON'T FORGET TO RATE HOW DISTRESSFUL EACH STATEMENT IS BEFORE AND AFTER TAPPING.

After Tapping the above statments that fit for you, ask yourself what you would rather have instead and create some new choices to install by Tapping them into your energy system.

Write down, "I now choose to do, be, have, feel ___________". One by one Tap in each new positive choice to fill the void left after tapping away the negative.

Take a nice deep breath and drinks lots of water, take a walk, watch your posture and keep your energy moving.

To Your Recovery!
