If It Doesn't Put Light In Your Eyes...

IF...
If it doesn't put light in your eyes
An Inner Smile at least somewhere
A fire in your loins..
If it doesn't make you dare to
Surf the stillness, wild-dance
Roll languidly in a meadow
........Don't do the practice!
If it doesn't pry open your vault
Unearth your weapons of self-destruction
Route-march you through your dark night
If it doesn't furrow your brow
Make you weep with compassion
Compel your hand to reach out
........Don't re-iterate the dogma!
If it no longer nurtures your soul
Cradles your tender heart
Caresses your being and body
If it isn't whispering your soul's calling
Thundering your engines
Exploding your vision and action
.........Do something else!
If it's only a cobweb thread that you
Tentatively tease out, or
Curious - trust and follow
If you're thrashing around in the swamp
Lost blindly in the fog with only the
Faintest blast from your soul's purpose
............Keep Going!
If you can continue no longer
Give up, but hang on in
Let go, allow, trust, Intend Difference
All these are the keys to the kingdom..
And if no fanfare, or peal of bells
Greets you - no crown or cloak
Adorns you- nonetheless- Welcome!
We are the Citizens of the
New Heaven and Earth!!

Feel Resource States |Recovery Tapping|JP Bailey| NLP

After healing a negative state, invoke a positive state. I made this video to help you do that. After awhile you'll memorize the 9 resource states and be able to state them, pause, feel them and drop into them easier and easier each time.

From this state is where you want to plan your next action steps toward your goals, or from here is where you want to create your new goals and make sure you create at least the first two action steps you can easily take the week, or in the near future. Always future-pace your actions toward your goals. It's amazing how far you can get doing one action at a time.

When in a resource state, you are in your natural, creative, strong state where you are clear without anything holding you back.

So heal first, feel resource state second futurize goal steps last. Make this a part of your daily healing, recovery and wellness routine for best results do it every day for 90 days and keep going after that as needed.

Healing With Qi Gong 14 Movements

Qi Gong

How Qigong is Best Learned

Qigong is best learned in small, easy to understand steps broken down into lessons and practice sessions. While an hour of Qigong class feels good and has undeniable benefits, it is easy to forget what is learned during that one hour session. That's where these YouTube videos come in.

These are short, easy to follow lessons that can be practiced immediately. When you have five minutes to watch a video and do some practice, that small lesson will sink in and be committed to memory. Focus on just learning one move at a time. Repeating it that day or on consecutive days will result in an increased memory of the teaching.

However, there's no limit to how much you can learn in one session. It's up to you. Watch and practice multiple sessions, from 5 minutes to a  half hour or longer. Whatever way best fits your schedule.

These videos teach an 14 move set broken down into 4 videos to help you fit Qigong practice into your day, every day. Without daily practice, the depth of the teachings can be elusive. With daily practice, the layers of benefits are clear.

How to Maximize Your Learning

It's more beneficial to know one movement well than to know a hundred movements partially. Focus on each movement like it's the only one. In ancient China, students would practice a single movement for years.

Don't feel like you need to get through all the videos in one session. Take your time. Watch the same video every day for a week. Or two weeks. Really commit each class to memory, and practice it sincerely.

Then move on to the next and build on learning each new move onto the next ones.

I drew stick figures of each move and labeled them and had a visual cheat sheet that I would carry around when I couldn't watch the videos. I'd practice doing what I could remember without looking until I had the whole thing memorized.

Once it's in memory and you practice it every day it’s a fun skill to have that you can take with you where ever you go. I've done various versions of it at work sitting down or on my bike making up adapted versions, or just practicing with my hands and seeing myself doing each move in my mind's eye.

Get creative. Do your own thing to make practice fun and interesting. Challenge yourself, build up your skills one small step at a time. Enjoy the learning journey. Be proud of your accomplishment.

The benefits are really multi-layered felt in your body, your mind, your energy and even your mood and emotions. You become more flexible and stronger too and yet it's so easy it never feels like you are working out.

After a couple years I started focusing more on my legs and would practice putting all my weight on one leg at a time which strengthened my leg muscles.

It's a cool form to learn and have to practice for life. I can easily see me doing this every day in my old age and feeling proud of myself for it and benefiting with more flexibility, strength, and flowing energy which strengthens the immune system and the energy meridians.

It's also meditative and mindful and helps relax the mind and calm your spirit, tune into the body and increase flexibility and strength.

Being dedicated to a self-care practice also increases your self-esteem, confidence and sense of well-being and wellness.
Enjoy!

For an easy to do exercise that never feels like a work out, add Qigong into your Recovery and Wellness routine, along with EFT/ Tapping/Energy Healing for your emotional upsets and to clear up things that bother you, ...together you will have an awesome wellness action routine!

This on is also very good:

Why do I miss my abusive (narcissistic) ex?

"Why?

why?

why?

Sometimes I get so angry...

My head realizes he constantly lied, and hit me, and cheated, and hurt me in every way imaginable...

I know that he's dangerous and scary, and I'm so thankful my girls and I were granted a protection order... But why does my heart still love him, and miss him, and wish he loved and missed me...

I've learned that he never did love, or care, cuz he's incapable...

I just wish I could heal from all the damage, and someday get to know what real love is."..

Its the addictive nature of codependency.

The love addict is addicted to the avoidance addict.

The codependent is addicted to the narcissist.

Its the toxic relationship pattern we are stuck in until we start clearing it up and start focusing on what we really want in our love life.

It's also detoxing the toxic loneliness that gets triggered when we end an abusive relationship. Our "cravings" after we quit a mind-altering 'substance'.

I learned a lot about this in the book, "Complex Trauma - From Surviving To Thriving", by Jeff Walker.  In it, he describes the 4 types of codependents (fight, flight, freeze and fawn) and the dynamics of each one and what we go through in trying to recover.

The main point is to grieve the loss from being abandoned, or abused, by our family and getting mad at them for doing that to us. The biggest problem we have is our own self-doubt in our heads that keeps us isolated and longing for connection with others. Since we're scared of healthy people, we start craving the old stand-by again; the toxic relationship that's familiar.

The way out is recovery that attends to expanding our social support, increases our wellness and self-care and uses tools like EFT and NLP to clear up old patterns and start to create new ones in an active manner; like having a daily routine that attends to each of these key areas. This keeps our recovery going and helps up keep at healing.

Using EFT heal one thing a day for 90 days and then see where you're at. I'm not saying you'll be cured forever... but,

...You sure won't be stuck at where you are now.

You got nothing to lose but your emotional upsets, desperation and toxic relationships patterns.

What Mental Tricks To Use In Dealing With Difficult People

I'm wondering what sort of mental tricks people use in order to deal with difficult people.

I admit my mental tricks don't always sound all that nice, but they stay in my head and I don't use them against people.

Right now I'm dealing with a boundary crossing person. Kind of the story of my life. I repeatedly have these issues and it oftentimes doesn't end well. :-/ (Wanting to hurt myself, the nearest object within reach, hurt myself with the nearest object within reach, or just get in my car and drive as far as I can.)

And usually what happens when people force themselves into my life is that I freak out. I panic.

But really, this does nothing to help the situation as these people have no concept of healthy boundaries.

I set, enforce, re-enforce boundaries. Sometimes I slip up-----we all do. But in the end, what matters most is my mental state, and not having meltdowns when boundaries are crossed. Being able to keep thing stable in my mind is the most important thing.

My current mind trick is to just envision boundary crossers as Cartman from Southpark. That scene where he's ranting "I do what I want!!!" just cracks me up because he's kind of sad-----and the guys just kind of disregard him in general. If I think of it like this, it reframed things for me so that I am able to see that the shortcomings are in them, not me. I no longer feel weak because frankly I'm cracking up and thinking "oh god, that's just sad!"

I'd like to have more mental tools in my kit. Whatever they may be, from real life, pop culture, etc. I just need simple tools that I can use to pull my mind out of that "I need to run to the far ends of the earth" mentality.

Thanks.
:)

===

I have thought about this problem a lot.  My search and research into the answer is what gave me a toolbox of things. I like to collect coping skills.

My first real good answer came from a book "Adult Children of the Self-Absorbed". It was, finally, a book that gave practical advice for dealing with difficult people aka energy vampires, aka personality disorders, etc.  One example was never sit across from them so they can't stare at you or have your direct attention. Another was to keep it short and drop a compliment just before you 'gotta go' so that the compliment sort of disorients them for a few seconds (they have to bask in their ego boost feeling), as you pivot to leave.

My next real quest came more in the form of finding healing techniques to just get rid of that horrible fear and pressure and obsessive thoughts, etc. about them and my fear and avoidance of them, which would cause me emotional flashbacks and a buildup of stress, emotional outbursts, nightmares, unexplained issues being triggered, etc.

The first healing tool I found that really worked was EMDR.  Within a year I then found energy tapping techniques such as EFT and others. From that point on I focused on healing my own inner self, avoided them as much as possible and practiced more limits, sticking up for myself, etc. which was hard but at least I could run home and do some Tapping on it and feel better, thus saving me days of ruminating and depression or re- traumatizing shame and isolation. These techniques expanded into other good ones like somatic mindfulness and qi gong and many others that involve mind-body-energy.  EFT saved my life by giving me the emotional healing I desperately needed for decades.

Another huge tool in my toolbox was my own education into personality disorders and personality types.  I studied my personality type for a long time and that really helped me self manage my depression. (I'm the depressed-artist archetype personality type, or the Type 4 on the Enneagram personality wheel.  Anyway, that helped me not take things so personally from other strong personality types.  I'm an introvert and I have to honor my need for quiet time and I need time around positive people to be able to handle exposure to negative people. I also had to see feelings aren't facts, and quite believing what someone else said was really true about me.

The positive people support mostly, for me, came from Al Anon where they teach you self-care and are very supportive. But there is a lot of support in mental health recovery these days.

Lastly, I'll say that my collection of NLP techniques is what has helped me create the deepest shifts in self beliefs that has made the greatest impact on my life. Really changed myself image and deserving beliefs and shame and patterns I was stuck in. NLP not only healed me but changed my behavior.

I mean, I grew up on welfare in south Chicago by a teenage mom who later would be schizophrenic and later homeless for 13 years. I ran away at 14 and was in the group home system. I went to community college and survived. My relationships were one dysfunctional guy after another which only got worse over time. I was always poor, always running from some guy, always struggling. I was a single mom and I got jobs and kept going. Recovery meetings kept me going.

But then I hit my bottom with relationships after the third failed relationship in 15 years and thank God I had the Tapping to finally start tapping on my relationship issues and got serious about trying to clean them up so I could finally settle down with a nice guy. I was getting too old for the drama and my son was almost grown. A psychology degree didn't save me from my relationships with users, losers and abusers.

I developed my own Tapping on Codependency and Dating program and 9 months later I met my Soulmate. We're still together 8 years later. I now have my dream job and he has his and we live a resort lifestyle that we never thought we could. What does that mean? For ME it's a dream job, I'm a mental health counselor. That was my dream all along.  Resort living is a nice complex with a pool and lots of trees. Which is not where I come from. My Soulmate is my best friend and I found him by:

1. clearing up my toxic relationship patterns I found in my relationship history chart
2. writing a list of what I really wanted in a partner
3. writing a list of all the red flags to avoid in people I meet or date
4. learning to say "no" and then just Tap on the fear that comes up, so you don't care so much what they think about you for saying "no". That's their problem. Learning to rate every date compared to your lists in 1&2
5. increasing self-care and wellness by developing a daily routine that grows over time to do pleasant activities and hang with like-minded people that are cool and enjoying your interests in life and so on.

He and I practice our 10 NLP Energy & Ninja techniques to help us get over arguments and stop our programmed patterns and love each other more plus help each other see ourselves success in society more. Which means we use it to program our mind to see ourselves in jobs we like or whatever. We use it to heal our inner critic that says we don't deserve it or not good enough, etc. After we heal it, we always futurize what we'd rather have instead and see ourselves doing it on. There's an NLP process called "Timeline" that helps you do this.

Some NLP techniques are like mindfulness or even energy work, but instead of trying to let go of thoughts you attend to your problem in a way that automatically heals it. It's sort of a miracle how fast and east it works without you even noticing it until afterwards you are completely changed about it without feeling like anything's missing. You feel clear, you can't make yourself upset about it anymore, and that's the time to then think about what you want instead now.

After neglecting yourself for so many years, you have to actively activate yourself care and wellness by thinking on what you really want, create an easy list and do them whether you feel like doing them or not. It's the experience of the doing self nurturing activities that changes the brain pattern also..  Its hard to get there with emotional upsets in the way and negative beliefs keeping you back. So heal first, then decide your next step moving forward toward what you really want. Avoid negative people, connect with positive people or people in recovery who can validate you more. Create a Wellness & Recovery Plan you can live with.

I love being a mental health counselor and living with my best friend and love of my life. I love being free of abusive people in my life these 8 years, after a lifetime of abuse.

I love teaching people EFT and I love coaching people with NLP and I love giving away my book "EFT for Codependency" on my recovery tapping blog and sharing my story of hope to others who are struggling with C-PTSD and connecting with people who are not toxic by clearing up their Toxic Relationship Patterns using all of the tools I listed above.

In case you're wondering I have been doing EFT Tapping since 2002 and NLP these last 8 years.  I weaned myself off therapy and meds, healed my depression for the most part and keep wellness on my mind daily. I continue to heal things as they come up and work on my meaningful projects. It didn't change overnight, but I FELT BETTER overnight and that's what motivates me to keep using these tools on a regular.

My hope is to help you also increase your healing, wellness and recovery by letting you know these tools exist and they work.

After Healing with EFT Tapping Comes The Creating Resource States to Activate Moving Forward in Your Recovery|JPBailey

Question: What do you do after you heal an upset with EFT?

Answer:  You get into a Resourceful state of mind by feeling resourceful states and in that state you think about what you want to do next.

Purpose: Activate action in the near future to help you move forward towards your goals, needs and wants.

Why:  After healing there is a vacume. You fill that space with self-care as you move on. It helps you focus on your needs and plans and preferences, things that the past upset held you back from.

Don't stop at healing, move forward to creating and take steps toward it. Practice creating resourceful states of mind for yourself to make it easier and life better. Tap into it!

The 4 Codependency Personality Types - Which One Are You?

According to "Complex-PTSD" by Jeff Walker, complex trauma from toxic family systems manifests into 4 types of codependency: fight, flight, freeze and fawn.

This caught my eye because I've been studying the 4 personality types for some years now. My favorite modern version is "It's Just My Nature" by Carol Tuttle, who writes about the basic 4 Energy Types.

I got into researching personality types like the Enneagram (9 types) when I got burnt out from years of personality disorder research.

As a result I was able to see how the two correlate and I have a much better understanding of people now and the basic personality types.

It never crossed my mind that there were 4 types of codependent. I, like many others, assumed codependency was one of the personality types. It's opposite being the narcissistic personality.

I like the fight, flight, freeze and fawn explanation because it makes sense that these 4 roles (the hero, the scapegoat, the clown and the lost child) are all aspects of the same toxic dynamic of trying to please others to survive.

If you know your energy type, everything is an eye-opener. you suddenly "get it" so much better why you react differently than others. And, why others act and react the way they do.

Further, when dealing with people who are stuck in their unresolved toxic patterns of fight, flight, freeze and fawn, it's easier to love and accept them and know how to best help them.

For example did you know the best way to help a Type 1 is to have fun with them and keep them company and watch funny shows with them?
Under stress they have the urge to run and take "flight".

And a Type 2 might enjoy cooking a rich meal together while talking about a lot of details and feeling loved and helpful.
Under duress they 'fawn'.

A type 3 would feel best if you gave them some really good attention, gave them lots of compliments and attention, even the spot light and gave them public praise and admired their hard work or smart actions they take.
When abused they 'fight'

And type 4's, well, us type 4's need a lot of love but mainly respect and acceptance and belonging while still maintaining our independence. Being reassured that you're thinking positively about them. They are so hard on themselves, they are sensitive to criticism.
They are the "freeze" types who run away or isolate when under stress or stay super quiet and won't open up.

The 4 Base Personality Types are as old as the ancients.  Remember the "4 Temperaments" in Greece and Roman days?  Philosopher's noticed there were 4 basic personality types.  A type 1 has a certain kind of energy naturally and so they react to stress differently then the others. Same with each one.

So the more you learn about the 4 basic types, the easier it is to learn the other 9 or 12 or 124 sub-types, (depending on which personality type system you learn), but because there are 4 (some say 5) actual base types that the other sub-types split off from, it makes it easier to see the whole picture.

Here are some basic tips to help you deal with people based on their personality type of energy. Try to think of a sit-com on TV, like "Modern Family" or "Seinfeld", and pick out which Type each of the characters are to practice.

Type 1 sanguine - spurts of energy, extroverts, needs to be right, when codependent, flight, they are controlling and bossy and do the right thing and have to be right and are always in motion.

Type 2 phlegmatic - rivers of energy, introverts, needs to be loved, when codependent, fawn, they are caretakers and mothers and nurses and helpers and obsess over details, comfort and long, steady motion.

Type 3 choleric - waterfalls of energy, extroverts, needs to be admired, when codependent, fight, they are leaders, pushy, demanding and try to look good, can be bullies, fast, hard motion.

Type 4 - melancholy - lakes/oceans of energy, introverts, needs to be valued, when codependent, freeze, they try to please and stay quiet and can't stick up for themselves and have a still, deep motion.

I hope this has helped you become aware of the 4 types and get you interested in learning more about yourself so you can help yourself more, forgive yourself more and understand yourself more.

Type 2's - Claire Dunphy, Jerry Seinfeld's mom, Luke Dunphy, Lily
Type 3's - Gloria Delgado-Pritchett, Haley Dunphy, Jerry Seinfeld
Type 4's - Alex Dumphy, Mitchell Pritchett, Manny Delgado, Dylan, Kramer

Overcoming Bad Inner Voices

This is CRITICAL to learn...   "Always Question (Inner) Authority."

Transform the Inner Critic into your own personal Inner Coach by always asking yourself, "What do I want instead?" "What does my wise mind say"?  "What do I really want?"  "What is the real truth?"

Ways to Replenish Your Energy When You Are Overwhelmed

This post is about "Ways to Replenish Your Energy", which came straight from my "Cream of the Crop" Recovery Tapping Binder.

See the original here:

WAYS TO REPLENISH YOUR ENERGY!

I knew there were times when we're just exhausted and fatigued and over-whelmed and we can't do another thing, no matter what recovery we're "suppose to be doing".

That's the time to peruse over this list and see what grabs you.

Sometimes you need to put your goals and "To Do" lists aside and just NURTURE SELF....

Do Nothing but PLEASURE YOURSELF, and don't be shy or ashamed of it.

You have my "permission" but really you learn to give yourself permission.

You learn to feel entitled to a little time-out, self-nurturing, "Me Time"...., So that you can be your BEST SELF and not the depleted, over-whelmed fatigues self you're forcing yourself through the motions with.  Your Real Self, your Natural State, is one in which action comes natural and feels fulfilling.

Remember, the voice or resistance inside that doesn't want you to do it, is just a part of you trying to get your attention because it has a message for you.... so embrace it..... Tap on it, see what comes up.

If not, you will burn out and continue getting worse and go downhill.  Maybe days, weeks, months or years later it catches up to you my friend.

I know in your 30's your in a hurry to get all your ducks and a row and in your 40's you're trying to get everything done and feel more urgency as you approach 50's to catch up with whatever you neglected or just couldn't get to years earlier....

....But, these things all require down time and restorative time along the way.

The paradox is, the more slowed down you get and mindfully do rest and relaxation, the more you actually get done and done well when you get back on your work horse.

Take it from me.  I had to make myself time. I had to schedule it in. I have to have "me time" and down time and quiet time.  I'm an introvert, I'm a counselor, I have to attend to ME.

And so do you.

Your homework assignment:  Once per week look over this list and pick one to indulge in for anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour to a whole day.  Just watch what happens during the rest of your week for having done so.

You are stimulating your endorphins and dopamine (feelings of relaxation and well-being) and you are giving yourself a break which is just what the doctor ordered when you're in over-whelm.

You  know how the saying goes.... If you're too busy to do 1 thing for 20 minutes, then you need to do 2 things for 40 minutes.  In other words, when you resist and don't think you can fit it in, or other inner messages that say I don't have time, I don't feel like it, etc.  THAT is the exact time that you double down your efforts and rebel. Do it anyway, just for the principle of it.

Later, afterwards, reflect on how you feel having done so, and you will find your life lessson and another gem to add to your Recovery Shrine if you will.  Collect these little diamonds along the way for those are ever-lasting where-as work is fleeting and you forget what you did each day years later.

You remember the diamonds and you draw on their strength to do it again because you see the real value and benefit they give you.

It's all about YOU.  Your decisions and your actions and your choices.

Choose wisely, with love for self.

The Gauge Protocol Or How To Increase Your Energy, Vitality, Metabolism and MORE With EFT!

Here's a neat twist on the Tapping method.  Instead of 'Tapping' on problems, you can Tap on a measurement or gauge that you want to increase.

Say I ask you to rate your overall Energy Level from 1 -10. What number are you at right now?  How high or low is your Energy?

Good, now write that number down.

Then go through the Metabolism Protocol and TAP your Energy Level UP!

When done Tapping a round or two, re-take your gauge and see what the number feels like now. Hopefully the number went up.  Keep at it and your Energy-Body-Mind will follow along.

But, I thought, why stop there?  Why not TAP to INCREASE anything that you can measure or gauge.  Why not TAP to increase balance, strength, or even memory or mental clarity???

See full list of ideas I came up with here:

The Gauge Protocol

Now for the actual TAPPING Protocol on what to say while Tapping, I borrowed from the Metabolism Protocol you can see and download from here:

Metabolism Protocol

I figure why re-write the whole thing when I've had it in my Recovery Binder "Cream of the Crop" for years.  I just scanned the thing in its entirety so you can learn it too.  At the time I was working on my resistance to doing anything, like working out, because at the time I had mild depression and didn't know it.  I just knew I had this huge resistance to doing what I wanted, as if I had to force myself and swim through honey just to get it done - and it felt like drudgery!

When I found the Metabolism Protocol, I thought that was a great way to increase my energy and my willingness to work out.  As well as identify all the thoughts in my head that were discouraging me, so I could create Tapping Choices Statements and work on those.

It worked.  I was able to get up off my butt and do some power walking and other exercise so I could burn off the food I was eating and counter-act the sedentary lifestyle I was living which mainly consisted of sitting at my lap top and laying on the couch watching TV.

Try it out.  It's a fresh take on Tapping and you might just increase your energy in a real way that helps you this week.

What Do You TAP On When You Can't Think Of An Issue? Easy.... Check Out A REAL FEELINGS LIST! |EFT Tapping|What To TAP on

What Do You TAP On When You Can't Think Of An Issue?

Easy....

Page 1 is A REAL FEELINGS LIST and the RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS LIST below.

FEELINGS LIST - Grist for the Mill to Tap On When You Can't Thing of Anything!

Print that out and circle every feeling that gives you a little jolt or charge inside.

Notice there are positive feelings too, draw a box around the positive feelings you want more of.

There are some pretty charged words on that list, some may trigger you.... But, if you're done with being stuck with them and you're up for it, circle those words a couple times and get ready to do some Tapping on what they trigger in you so you can get free of them holding you back in life.

Just reading a word that hits the nail on the head, can cause a body sensation and open up Pandora's Box.

Page 2 is "RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS"  which goes perfectly with my Tapping on Codependency book.  For this one, I would suggest listing more than one person for each word that you resonated with.

Remember, you may pick a word you feel now and you're thinking of a recent break-up, but digging deeper, you see you felt the same way about other people in your past, and if you thought about it, you'd inevitably find yourself thinking of a relative that made you feel the same way.

Hooray, you found a pattern, an inner part, an identity, a belief within you that you can heal yourself. You can re-process and re-organize any pattern, part, identity or belief with the right tools.

The fastest way to find out which relative or memory it stems from is to ask yourself, "What does this word remind me of" and have an open mind as you see who or what comes up.

So, you want to TAP on BOTH the recent person that made you feel that way, and the relative that made you feel that way when you were younger, and took it to heart, and started to believe what that must have thought about you.

Recovery Tapping says, "What they think about you is wrong".

Clearing out and healing the Part of you, that up to now, believed they were right, is the key to transformation.

With that belief about yourself gone, you can get back to who you really are, Have compassion for yourself. Be nice to yourself.

Because the present YOU knows the TRUTH about you, and what anyone else thinks of you is of no consequence really because thoughts can't affect you.  Their thoughts..., which you can never hear or know or realize are mostly focused on themselves.  Other people's thoughts can't hurt you.  What you think they believe about you does not have to hold you back.

Once you've circled the words that feel intense or give you a negative charge, then begin one by one tapping on them. I'm sure you know how to tap by now and have already tried it, but if not or you are new, then I suggest you first go back and learn EFT and try Tapping on several things first and see how it works.

Once you have the confidence that with Tapping you can handle any feeling, you're ready to start digging up some old, buried ones.

I hope these feeling word and relationship problem words lists help you to uncover some things that you can start tapping on today that will change your life. I hope that you too can stop the direction they are pushing you in, and instead clear them up and with a clear head, reorient yourself to the here and now and decide what you want.

Knowing what you'd rather have instead is the key to making it happen.  You have to know what you want. Well, its hard to know what you want with all these negative feelings and thoughts in the way. So the trick is to Tap on these one by one, and as you do, you feel neutral or less upset by them, you're thinking is clearer.  You can start choosing what you want instead.  Choose loving yourself. Choose seeing your skills and talents and see yourself in the near future practicing them. Choose self-compassion. Choose to be yourself. Choose to love and accept yourself and be free to do what you really want in life.

Then the real adventure begins. You will still have issues come up, but they'll be new ones, not the old stuff constantly never letting you out of the gate.  When new issues come up now that you're out there living life and taking risks and being yourself more and more, you have tools to deal with them and you keep going.

Living is experiencing.  Experiences are the only thing you can count on to have a least partial control over. You can steer yourself in any direction you want in life. There are stumbling blocks out there, its not always easy, but at least you're in the game instead of hiding out of fear and old emotional stuff holding you back.

What is Wellness Recovery? | What is a WRAP? | What are GRAPES?| Mental Health Daily Routine

I'm sitting here in my home office, looking at all the recovery and energy psychology books I have on my shelf..., and looking at my white board where I wrote some notes about Wellness,... And, I'm thinking, "I ought to do a video on this".

But as techy-handicapped as I am.... I'll have to settle for writing a blog post to try and capture this extremely empowering formula that I have put together since putting Recovery and Tapping together.

I may have to change it to Wellness and Tapping, as Wellness Recovery is what I am into more and more.

What is Wellness Recovery?

Wellness Recovery is about getting and staying well.  The new way to look at illness is about getting well and not just focusing on the sickness and the symptoms, not just treating the sickness but doing wellness activities to promote wellness as well.

Wellness Recovery starts with the question: "What are you like when you're well?"

So you answer that question so its in black and white what you are like when you are well.

Then, the next question is: "What do you need to do on a regular basis to stay well?"

And that answer starts to develop your daily and weekly routine that will keep you well in the long run.

Then you work on improving that routine to create a well-rounded wellness in all the main areas of your life.

What do you need to do every day to get or stay well?
What do you need to do every weeek, every so often, every month, every year, to stay well?

There are a couple ways to create this plan. One is called W.R.A.P. and another is called G.R.A.P.E.S.

WRAP is Wellness Recovery Action Plan. Created by Mary Copeland, it is a set of questions that help to plan for one's recovery.

GRAPES is an acronym that serves as an easy to remember way to do a well-rounded daily routine of recovery. If you do something for each letter of 'grapes', then we are doing things daily to keep up well.
Growth
Reward
Accomplishment
Pleasure
Exercise
Social

Wellness plans, like WRAP, also plan for triggers. When you learn how to identify your triggers that make you sick or unwell, you can then start to plan for strategies to handle it when they happen again in the future.

In essence, you are learning your own symptom management. Recovery is all about self-management and self-help and self-directed.

You direct your own life, I just suggest that you direct it toward wellness and try to balance your activities so that each area of your life have regular wellness routines so that in the long run, over time, you will be more well.

Which is better than being sick or getting sick and not doing anything but dealing with the sick symptoms.

You're adding in more wellness things so that you have more wellness as a result.

So wellness is maintaining wellness actions on a regular basis. It doesn't have to be perfect or perfectly followed, but at least you have it to go back to when you find yourself slipping into old illness triggers or symptoms.

So in each main life area, you would rate how well it is and then set a goal for that area to make it better. Ask yourself how you want each are to look or feel or be and go with your wants when setting goals. Otherwise you won't be motivated to work towards them.

When I need to regroup or think I ask myself 3 questions and I let my mind think of the answers and write them down:

1. Where am I at?
2. What's going on?
3. What do I need to do?

That helps me clarify what my goals are in each area.

The key to change is identifying what you want to change and replacing old actions with new ones that can get the same intention that the old goals were attempting to.

Increase positive actions and decrease negative ones.

The old way of change was using cognitive-behavioral therapy. In essence, you would look at your thoughts around an action you wanted to change and work toward changing your thoughts to change your actions.

The new way with Wellness NLP is to cooperate. To get all Parts of you to agree to get your wants met.

This greatly helps reduce the resistance to change.

When you want to check in on how you're doing, ask yourself these three things:

1. What are my wins this week?
2. What were my challenges this week?
3. What is my focus this week?

When you are stuck in an old behavior, ask yourself, "What do you like about this dysfunctional behavior?"  It may seem like a weird question, but you must ask yourself why you are doing something you want to change. You need to ask yourself what you're getting out of it.

Then find a new behavior that could get you that same result but in a better, healthier way.

Stages of Change

Wellness Recovery takes in to account what stage of change you are in. The goal is to move through the stages, not force an overnight change. Change is hard. Its a process. Working with your resistance and asking questions is one way to help you through the process.

Pre-contemplation - you are not thinking about change yet and may be resistance to any hint of change at this stage.
Contemplation - you are thinking about change in this stage
Action - You are starting to make changes
Maintenance - you have made changes and now are in the maintenance stage where you are keeping up your new behaviors.

Use EFT for recovery. Use NLP to empower yourself to make changes.

Mental Illness and Recovery Over 3 Generations | Confessions of a Psych Major

It's just now that I feel I'm "out of the closet" and not hiding my mental illness - which is depression.

Or it could be Bipolar-II, but like some, I think Bipolar II is the happiness you feel when you finally come out of depression and you just look hypo-manic for awhile because you're finally engaged in life, social and getting shit done.

Depression, for sure, since age 14 when I first got treatment for it.  I didn't understand a lick of any of it but it would set the stage for my college psych major years later to try and figure it out.

By the time I was 5 years old, I had gone through 5 traumas and it was always hard to feel normal with that history.  I was drawn to self help, psychology and mental health to find answers.

It took decades for my mother to get an official mental health diagnosis. Before that we just thought she was weird and couldn't understand her 13 year bout of homelessness...

Meanwhile, I was learning about depression and anti-depressants and Complex-Trauma and PTSD, hoping I could learn enough to get over it and be able to help others after I got my degree.

So from age 14 -17 I learn first-hand about hospitals and treatment centers, and 12 Step meetings and group homes.

In my 20's I was mainly into self-help, positive affirmations and took a look into some meta-physical stuff. I hung on to my child abuse story for years and years and thought it was my mission to heal it.

I did recovery for about 7-8 years when I began to feel I was out-growing it and having some disagreement with some of the cult-like beliefs I saw there. I wanted to see what life was like in the "normie world" without all the 12 Step talk. Plus, my mental health wasn't really being addressed or fit into the 12 steps. I still didn't know I had major depressive disorder.

So, by the time I got to grad school, I had this big idea that I would "just be myself" and not tell anyone my "victim" story. I was sick of it anyway.  I wanted to pass grad school like anyone else. (And, secretly, I thought if they found out there was something wrong with me, they wouldn't let me into the psych field.)

I also let go of anything that wasn't backed up by science and research. I dove into being a psych nerd and studied all I could about psychology.

In my 30's  I worked in the psych field, research and social work. That's when I got in the closet.

At least at my day job.  By night I hit support meetings and chatted on internet recovery sites.
But it still felt like I was "undercover".  I was ashamed of my mom, so I just never mentioned her.

I was ashamed of myself so I just pretended and hoped I could pass as "normal".

And then I went about 10 years with no support at all (trying on my own to be normal) and it didn't get me anywhere but spinning in my old patterns (see Relationship History Post) and creating more depression.  I "hit my bottom" with relationships and decided to set out to heal myself or get therapy or anything but more repeats of the same patterns. I was done. I returned to 12 Step, but this time it was only Alanon. But they never heard of Tapping, and I felt I wasn't allowed to talk about it.

In my 40's I got into EFT and Tapping and that really helped with symptom management and finally getting a handle on my emotions. I loved it.  I was happy/happier than I had been in years, or ever.
I immersed myself into the world of Energy Healing. I didn't need therapy or meetings anymore. But not many of my EFT friends had any awareness of recovery. I didn't miss the 12 step talk but I did miss the hugs, the support, the fellowship.

I decided to try EFT on my Recovery (codependency) issues, and it worked so well that I wrote the book "Emotional Freedom Techniques for Codependency Recovery" and found my husband of 8 years now.  It helped me change a lot and get unstuck from where I was spinning in repeat-mode.

But there was still something missing...I felt I needed something that would tie it all together.

Then in my 50's, as God would have it, I wound up working at a Recovery and Wellness center for Mental health and the whole mental health world had turned into the 'Recovery Model", which is different from 12 steps and not affiliated at all.

What no one knew was that I was secretly depressed and suffering from watching my son grow up into a young man with mental illness and I didn't know what to do.  I thought it was my fault. I thought as a mental health case manager, I should know what to do.  But I didn't.

I couldn't even speak his name without crying so I didn't speak at all. I kept it all in... until I began working with other peers in the recovery wellness field for mental illness and had the courage to talk to co-workers about my son, and even my mom.  I still was trying to hold the depression back, thinking I'd have less respect. I wanted people to see my Master's degree and not my depression.

Long story short, I got my son into help and got back into my Alanon so I could get back to self-care in relationships. And, I dusted off my Recovery Model material and started putting together a class that I'm an expert in: Depression and developing a Wellness Plan to manage it.  I even started saying out loud that I was a survivor of PTSD/Trauma.  I wasn't judged for it and I got up the nerve to start talking about Tapping too.

I found that the Daily Routine Plan and using EFT both together is what helped me the most deal with life and symptoms. That's what I want to share with others. Tapping can shave years off of the recovery journey and you get to wellness faster so you can enjoy life instead of struggling though recovery without it.

I hung out with the EFT crowd for many years. But they didn't get mental illness and the mental health field just had a few people here and there that were learning EFT Tapping.

It just made sense to me to put the two together and that's how I can up with this blog.

But I wanted to market myself as an expert and provide info and education and not ever really expose myself and my family that there are 3 generations of Crazy going on now and well, it drives me crazy at times. It's hard to wrap my head around.

The best solution was coming out of the closet and just being real about who I am and what I'm doing about it.

The thing is EFT alone wasn't enough, 12 Step meetings were not enough and Recovery Wellness model wasn't enough. None of them were enough on their own. It's only when I combined them together that I saw profound changes and real results in my life.

Then I got scared that people wouldn't like me doing that, so again I kept it pretty quiet.  I just tried to sell some books, I did private sessions and really didn't have much of a direction. For awhile I put it all aside and just worked my day job...

...But this blog was calling to me to get back to it.  My book was sitting there feeling like a ton of people are missing out on what I found and I decided to just go for it and put all my healing and recovery stuff out there.

This weekend I finished my 6 Part Depression Wellness (Coloring) Workbook and made 6 Videos to explain each part.  It was such a RELIEF to do that and to just put it out there and not worry anymore about what anyone thinks.

After age 50, you start to care less about what other people think anyway and start doing more of what you want, because, heck, you got nothing to lose and I could die without ever sharing all the stuff that I've collected and practiced and put together to help others struggling with depression and trauma and relationship or family woes.

So now I'm coming out of the closet and peeling off the layers of fear and stigma and just doing what I'm good at: helping people heal themselves with Energy Healing AND a Wellness Recovery Plan to follow.

It doesn't even seem like a big deal now as I write it.  But for several decades it was a huge deal and I suffered a lot in silence with it.  If I can help just one person skip all that and get right to healing, then its all been worth it.
